Cornetta

Cornettadrum and bass artist

A purist of the vinyl and an avid record collector, Cornetta has been very passionate about the electronic music scene since her adolescence, when she discovered IDM, minimal, acid techno and breakbeats. Obversely, Cornetta was at the same time strongly impacted by sound system culture and the local free party scene in Bari, her home town in the South of Italy. Here, during her late teens, she has found the true spirit of the rave culture, alongside the strong political and sociological meaning behind the occupation of abandoned places and the sound of Dub, Dubstep, Reggae and high-tempo French Tek. Cornetta is able to blend on vinyl all those different influences of electronic music in a unique way and with a distinct sound. She has recently launched her own series of events in Aberdeen, Danza Catartica. This recent project emerged from a need to define a specific type of sound that at the same time carefully blends the different elements of multiple genres. The aim of Danza Catartica is to remain a baluard of resistance within the local underground scene in Aberdeen, and reconnect people to the subcultural sense of community around music. Cornetta remains passionate about reading and studying the socio-political context and the significance of rave culture in contemporary society, as a reactionary response to societal constraints
