Seraphim Sound (live): Xylitol / Konx-om-Pax / Éon / xtal logikThe Old Hairdressers, Glasgow ·
In the UK Hardcore tradition, the sampler becomes crucible, a white heat vessel where the dustworn fragments of reclaimed sound are forged anew. Seraphim Sound continues our exploration of the outer contours of the continuum, with a selection of live sets ranging from blissed-out galactic ambience to paranoid industrial breakbeat. With her latest record on Planet Mu, 'Blumenfantasie', Xylitol continues to forage the verdant forest of rave, a not-quite-rose-tinted kaleidoscope of a communal future past which never succumbs to retro pastiche. A keen student of the Berlin School, her glittering kosmiche melodies are fringed with lurking menace, the ephemeral shadow in the corner of the warehouse, a delicately balanced iridescence over a pulsating breakbeat heart. Expect a live set which pushes at the boundaries of jungle, equal parts propulsive kinetics and reflective meditation. Also joining us will be Glasgow's own neon-shaded conjurer, Konx-om-Pax. A veteran of the scene, his recent modular excursions take distilled rave forms and mutate them to Olympian extremes - the liquid aural manifestation of a singular aesthetic vision which has helped define a generation of Scottish club culture. Support from Éon and xtal logik. Join us in a paeon to the Akai alembic.
