SYLA's path in music is one made of passion, patience and open-mindedness. A French/Russian who grew up mostly in Montreal (Canada) he first came in contact with music through piano, learning and practicing for several years alongside the teacher Tristan Lauber. He then discovered Electronic music in 2000, at the young age of 13. The tracks and artists he listened to at the very beginning were Trance (famous belgian imprint such as Bonzaï Beats or Superstition (DE), Independence (FR), etc). Returning to France in 2002 for a two years period, this is where he discovered the reality of the scene : rave parties, clubs and festivals. Witnessing the real power of electronic music in motion just kept his fascination growing constantly. From there he felt the need to dig further into the underground and began buying vinyl records at various established parisian shops such as Techno Import, Synchrophone or Hokus Pokus. Always curious and eager to meet the actors behind the curtains, he became friend with various artists, organizers and label managers involved in the Hardcore/Techno rave scene : Epileptik productions, Teknomad, Frenetek sound systems to name a few. Strenghtening his ties whith those people and always wanting to invest himself more got him to work from 2004 to 2006 as the official retailer in Canada for the Epileptik imprint which was one of the two major french Hardcore Techno labels at that time ('98-2006) and much respected worldwide because of its quality…
