A brewing name amongst new school junglists is the hard to pronounce "Soeneido" (Sow-en-Aye-Doh). A producer moving in a slightly oblique direction with his characteristic 8-bit tracker sound. Based in Oakland, CA he's been crafting his shadowy ninja-esque breakbeat sound through his own bandcamp label LOTEK Oakland. Soen draws much upon the 92-95 era of jungle and breakbeat-hardcore - linguring much in the darkside. Expect a Soeneido set to be a drum intensive workout sprinkled with scary mentasms and ominous doomy 4-on-the-floor kicks. In the past year he's made several appearances on the infamous jungle testing grounds of Future Retro London, most recently with his solo EP released in September 2024. He has also had releases on labels such as Ruff N Tuff, Heavy Sounds, Intaception, No Bias, and more. Locally Soen has worked to keep a sporadic club night (also called LOTEK) afloat highlighting local and US-based JDNB talent as well as promoting all vinyl nights.
