Katelate

Katelatedrum and bass artist

The musical chemist behind Katalysis at Sneaky Pete's, an original resident at Femmergy, and co-founder of ESHC's Principle 8 fundraiser night, Katelate is one of the Scottish scene's special secrets. Emerging from the swamps of the Edinburgh Student Housing Cooperative, Kate is a DJ with a taste for the vibrant, evocative, unheard, and outspoken; a producer with no shortage of strong feelings and experimental moves to share; and a promoter deeply woven into the local queer community. Playing club nights such as Midnight Bass, Femmergy, Hypnotikk, Headset, Plant Bass'd, Club Sylkie, Gang of Bitches from Hell, and more, Kate's become a staple on the Cowgate. Their broad CV reflects her broad tastes, built with the roots of dance music in the tangled edges and intermingling of different styles and genres. Kate's sets vary from the sleazy and easy ass-swingers to punishing rhythms and intense workouts. In her time on the scene, she's supported DJs including Jyoty, Otik, Aya, Seren Seo, Sosi, and DJ Pacifier. She also is one of the organisers behind ESHC's new Principle 8 night, showcasing firebrand young talent in the queer rave scene. Though their name playfully pokes fun at her reputation for late nights and poor timekeeping, keeping pace with the different moves Kate makes is no easy task- keep your ear close to the ground and you might just catch up with what she's up to next.
