Dani Whylie has quickly become one of the most compelling new voices emerging from the UK’s underground. Based in Bristol, her sets refuse easy categorisation, moving fluidly through rolling techno, broken rhythms, high-voltage electro and weighty, percussive club music with an instinct that feels both fearless and deeply considered. Rather than chasing genre, she follows energy, shaping each set around the room in front of her and finding unlikely connections between records that keep dancers guessing until the lights come up. It’s an approach that’s taken her from Bristol’s grassroots circuit to some of the country’s most respected dancefloors. After developing her sound through formative residencies at Der Liebe, APEX, Flat 7 and Interstellar Disco Orgy, while establishing herself as one of the city’s defining queer selectors. Community sits at the heart of her practice. Every set is built around creating spaces that feel open, unpredictable and deeply connected, where adventurous music and genuine inclusivity exist side by side. That reputation has travelled quickly. A six-hour InnSession marathon, a three-date residency at The Love Inn and a breakthrough run of performances at Glastonbury from queer chaos at Scissors to Babylon Uprising and opening The Levels main stage announced a DJ equally comfortable in intimate basements and in front of thousands.
